...for Alderman
Proud to represent people!

Enough with the politics, let's focus on practical solutions.

What is an Alderman? Ward 1?

These are the questions that started this journey!

What is an Alderman?

An Alderman is an elected official who represents a specific ward in a city council, responsible for local governance and community issues.

Where is Ward 1?

South of Monroe Street, and (for the most part) between Furnace Street and Jackson Street. See the adjacent map for details.

What is the Common Council?

The Common Council is the legislative body of the city, consisting of elected representatives from each ward, including the Aldermen. Decisions in the council affect local laws, budgets, and community services.

So what?

Folks in the city are often frustrated with the state of politics. I've learned that the pieces are there, but folks feel disconnected from the process. I want to help bridge that gap.

Engineering solutions!

I've spent the better part of my life helping people solve problems (with an emphasis on technology where I thrive). I've served as a software engineer, a teacher, support technician, and sales engineer. I know how to listen, understand, and deliver solutions that work.

Practical Solutions

Ideology is great, but I focus on practical solutions that work for our community. If it doesn't work, it doesn't matter how good it sounds.

Communicating Complexity

I have a knack for breaking down complex issues into understandable terms, ensuring everyone is on the same page.

Modern Innovation

Technology is a tool that many people don't understand and so their vision is limited. The people deserve a representative who can see the big picture and leverage modern technology to improve our community.

Outreach and Engagement

I've observed that many in the establishment *think* they engage in the community but I've observed and heard first-hand that many people feel unheard. I plan to change that.

Family Man and Proud

As a husband and father, I value the importance of family and community. I've put my heart and long term belief that Little Falls is a great place to raise a family. I want to help ensure that it remains a wonderful place for future generations.

Father

Proud father to two amazing kids, Conan and Zelda. They inspire me every day to push and do better. Every day is a new adventure with them, and I cherish every moment.

Husband

Married since 2012 to the love of my life, Jenny. We are a team in everything we do. She is my compass, my wind, my stars...

Community

Whether it's volunteering at BHA, attending a school play, or supporting local events, I love being part of the community. My family and I are active participants in Little Falls, and we cherish the connections we've made.

Passion

Serving as alderman means putting in the work for the community and embracing the responsibility that comes with it. It's hard work but few things are more rewarding.

Garlic King Turned Civil Servant!

Having served on several non-profit boards and committees, I have a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of our community. My goal is to bring that experience to the role of alderman, ensuring that every voice is heard and every concern is addressed. The "Garlic King" has stepped down; time to serve the people!

I have a long history of volunteering in our community, and I want to bring that experience to the role of alderman.

Royalty

OK, not really royalty, but I do have a long history as 'the Garlic King' when volunteering for the Garlic and Herb festival for several years now.

Tech Support

With a broad technical background, I've always been happy to help neighbors whenever. Whether it's just some time to chat or tools to borrow, I'm there.

Heavy is the crown, but the Garlic King is ready to serve! Michael Vittiglio Alderman Ward 1 Little Falls. Also running are Sam Roorda and Russell Perry.

Friendly Neighborhood Kinda Guy

I can wear whatever hats that life throws my way but the most important part of getting by in life revolves around community. A big part of that is trying to maintain a can-do attitude and sense of humor. If you see me around town, feel free to say hi! I love meeting new people and hearing their stories.

Storyteller

A dedicated member of Flash Fiction with the LF Public Library. I've also performed Shakespeare with the Little Falls Theatre and done a number of Murder Mystery Dinner events.

Gamer

I've been playing video games since I was a kid and still love them today! Table-top games too? You bet! I've also been educated in game design and development. Want to get talk games or make one? I hope you have some time!

FAA Certified Pilot

Need to get a photo of your roof for an insurance claim? Want to get some footage for a quick commercial? Need to make a quick video of a birthday party? I can help with that!

Musician

I've been a musician for most of my life starting with guitar then bass, trombone, and so on. Music is the language of the soul and I think everyone should have their instrument of choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about me and my campaign. If you have more questions, feel free to reach out!

I've always been beholden to the truth and facts. As an engineer, regardless of my values, I adhere to reality and I've grown exhausted with the two parties who have spent so much time on optics before substance. I won't pretend that "both sides are the same". My point is that I don't want to live with a brand other than my own.
TBD is short for "The Better Deal". You see, when one wants to run as an independent candidate, they have to register a party. I registered as "The Better Deal" on the spot!
I went with "The Better Deal" because I align with the notion of being a "New Deal Democrat" but, as mentioned above, I don't want to be beholden to any party desire to embrace that and so here we are.
No, I was born and raised in Queens, New York City. I moved to Little Falls in 2011 and have been here ever since with the exception of 3 years in Troy and back in the city.
I was in love with Little Falls the moment I arrived. I met my wife here and thought I would stay forever. However, work became scarce and that left us moving to Troy and then NYC. The moment we had our first child, my wife and I knew that our trajectory was moving back here. From there we moved back to Troy before buying our house in Little Falls.
I want to see more outreach from local government. Residents should never have to scour Google or Facebook to stay informed. I also feel that it is imperative that we seek out more innovative ways (either modern or untried) to bring people and funding back to our community.
